So what kind of job would make you happy?
Do you know how many times I’ve either asked myself that question, or been asked it? Let’s just say… a lot.
I’ve also been very super extremely lucky to have many opportunities with my various “careers.” Restaurateur, nightclub owner, radio talk show host, writer, editor, teacher, jello-maker and now a FEMA disaster assistance employee -- great job, but I only work when there's a disaster! (There’s a list of about 40 more on my website, called "Jobs I have had," in case you’re interested.)
Just for fun, I thought I might just jot down a few of the things I’d still like to do with my life… and maybe it would shed some light on why I find these gaps between jobs so angst-inducing. Take a look, and maybe something might spark some interest in you. These are my ideas. If you’d like to help with me on any of them, or if you have an idea as to how to make any of them happen, please feel free to write me (thom@thomwise.com or wisethom@gmail.com). It's been awhile since the ol' Thom Wise.com website has been fired up... but it's time to get goin'!!
Yes, it's true. I've left my job in Las Vegas, and I'm getting prepared to hit the road again. The downside is that I sleep alone, but the UP side is that I'm free to go, and do what I want! (Wasn't it Somerset Maughn who said that you can do anything you want, as long as you're willing to pay the consequences??)
I'll keep this, the "old" thomwise.com up, so that you can access some of the old stories, my lists of story ideas, jobs and websites. But you'll also be re-directed to get to my blog, to read the most "up to the minute" stories from on the road. Check out the new site now!

Great question. In a nutshell, I'm a "jack of many trades," meaning I've done lots of things in my life. Take a look at the list, to the left, which has most of the jobs I've ever been paid for (or at least all the ones I can remember). For a list of all the countries I've been to, click on Fact & Figures (fourth from the top under "Sections.")
I hail from Denver, Colorado, USA and have had the privledge of seeing many places on Earth, and always looking forward to more. Please feel free to check in once in awhile and see what's new. Write me a note if you'd like, and I'll respond accordingly. In any case, thanks for looking!
